Weighted Grade Calculator
Weighted average grade from assignments and their weights.
Quick answer
- Formula: Weighted grade = Σ (grade × weight) ÷ Σ weights
- Worked example — Weighted average: 82.50% (full example below).
Weighted Grade Calculator
| Weighted average | 82.50% |
| Letter grade | B |
| Total weight entered | 100.0 |
Grades of 90, 85 and 78 weighted 20/30/50 average to 82.5% — a B.
Enter each assignment or category as a grade and a weight, separated by semicolons. The calculator returns the weighted average percentage and the matching letter grade.
Weights do not have to add up to 100 — the result is the weighted sum divided by the total weight, so partial grade breakdowns (only the categories graded so far) still give a correct average for the work entered.

Frequently asked questions
What letter-grade scale is used?
A ≥ 90%, B ≥ 80%, C ≥ 70%, D ≥ 60% and F below 60%, a widely used US scale. Individual schools may set different cutoffs.
Can I enter percentages of the course that are not graded yet?
Leave ungraded categories out. The average is normalized by the weights you enter, so it reflects only the work included.
